New MRI coming to Finger Lakes Radiology
FINGER LAKES RADIOLOGY RENEWS ITS COMMITMENT TO OPEN BORE MRI IMAGING TECHNOLOGY AND WILL SOON BE INSTALLING A SECOND GENERATION SCANNER.
Siemens Open Bore MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T MRI will provide patients with faster exams, state-of-art images, and fewer repeat scans during the examination
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams – non-invasive diagnostic imaging exams of soft tissue, bone and muscles – have become one of the fastest growing types of medical diagnostic tests in the United States. Finger Lakes Radiology will be installing a MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5T Open Bore MRI system from Siemens Healthcare in their facility located inside Geneva Geneva Hospital. Patients will be able to experience faster and even more comfortable exams.
Finger Lakes Radiology is committed to provide the most comfortable examination without compromising image quality. The new MRI suite will expand access to diagnostic imaging that supports a complete range of clinical applications, including neurology, orthopedics, body imaging, angiography, cardiology, breast imaging, and oncology.
The exam room will continue to feature patient comfort amenities such as floor to ceiling windows, a beautiful blue sky mural on the ceiling, and a sound system that allows patients to listen to their favorite music during their exam.
Benefits of the MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T Open Bore
The MAGNETOM Aera offers doctors an array of diagnostic possibilities and provides patients with a more comfortable experience.
Like all MRIs, the MAGNETOM Aera uses magnets that are measured in Tesla (T) to acquire images. At 1.5T, the MAGNETOM Aera offers superb image quality that may be used for a wide range of medical needs – from orthopedic and sports-related injuries to breast cancer testing – and can help physicians make quicker, more accurate diagnoses.
The MAGNETOM Aera boasts a large 70 cm open bore – the tube-like structure of an MRI machine, where the patient lies during the imaging process – and can provide access for patients of up to 550 pounds. Additionally, the system’s ultra-short bore can help to alleviate concerns of claustrophobia since many exams can be performed with the patient’s head outside of the bore.
The system is equipped with two exclusive Siemens technologies: Tim™ 4G (fourth generation of Total imaging matrix technology) and Dot (Day optimizing throughput). The combination of Tim and Dot improves the entire MRI workflow and delivers patient-centered care. The results are faster, more comfortable exams for patients
Finger Lakes Radiology will begin installation of the MAGNETOM Aera on April 15th of 2014 and the system will be fully operational on May 12th. During renovation we will continue to scan patients in a portable Open Bore scanner, similar to the one in operation at this time. To schedule an MRI exam, patients should call 315-787-5399.
